OVERVIEW

The QTEL Site and District Leadership Institute focuses on recognizing the specific academic and linguistic needs of language minority students and building leadership expertise to address those needs by supporting accelerated, quality education for English Learners at varying levels.

 

WHO SHOULD ATTEND

Site based and district leaders who wish to develop a vision of powerful learning for English Learners and support teachers in planning and executing rigorous, accelerated lessons that support language learning.

Participants will:

  • Understand how standards impact teachers’ implementation of high-quality instruction for all students, including English Learners

  • Learn about the QTEL process of leadership and its role in developing teacher expertise through teacher support

  • Recognize and promote school programs characterized by rigorous academic and language instruction for English Learners

  • Develop expertise in the administrative design and structuring of successful learning environments for English Learners. In this area, attention will be focused on four elements of program design: structures, processes, capacity building, and resource utilization
