LYN WESTERGARD

Program Associate

Lyn Westergard (EdD) is a Program Associate in the Quality Teaching for English Learners initiative at WestEd. Dr. Westergard’s professional experience is deeply focused on equity initiatives for multilingual learners. Her work on the English Learner and Migrant Education team includes quantitative and qualitative educational research, program evaluation, and research design methodology. She designs and facilitates professional learning for teachers, instructional leaders, and site administrators related to quality instruction for multilingual learners and partners with local and state education agencies to design ESL program certification programs for in-service teachers.

 

Dr. Westergard has served as a classroom teacher at the elementary, middle, and secondary levels. She also has experience as an instructor for higher education courses, including language acquisition and teacher-research courses.

 

She received her Doctorate of Education degree in 2019 from the University of Colorado, Denver, with a concentration in Leadership for Educational Equity.
